Nick Napoda

Hailing from New Orleans and the southeast coast, it was a curiosity to reach the next barrier island that first got me on the water. An early disciple of the Greenland stick, I have been pursuing sea kayaking—and later, canoeing—for over 11 years. Seeking new ways to challenging myself has taken me around the country, achieving the British Canoeing Sea Kayak Leader and UKCC L2 Canoe & Kayak Coach awards in the process. Previously a kayak guide in the Louisiana cypress swamp, I am excited to share my passion and hone my guiding skills in the unique environment of the San Juans. Whether it is surfing, rock gardening, camping, fishing or taking my cat Chalupa on canoe trips, I value paddling for both the sport and the opportunity to reconnect with nature. Hoping to pivot my career towards solving complex problems threatening the viability of our ecosystems and affected communities, I am currently pursuing a masters degree in Sustainability at Arizona State University.
