Hi, I’m Naomi, and I am honored to be guiding in the San Juan Islands with Discovery Sea Kayaks. I spent years chasing seasonal work, wild places, and any opportunity to learn something new.
By 18, I set off with my equally adventurous partner to live life the way we wanted to. In a self-converted school bus with no real plan. Eight years later, it’s still a blast, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
In the winter, you’ll usually find me working ski patrol around Lake Tahoe as an EMT, helping people in the mountains I love most. In other seasons, I’ve been an aquarium mermaid performer, wild-land firefighter, white water raft guide, an artist, and now a sea kayak guide!
I never went the traditional college route. Instead, I chose experience as my classroom — learning through long days outside, hard work, incredible people, and a healthy amount of trial and error. My goal in life is basically to become a Swiss Army knife of outdoor adventure: capable, curious, adaptable, and always learning.
When I’m not guiding, I’m usually foraging for edible plants, making herbal teas, trail running, playing my guitar, painting, or planning the next adventure. I have a deep love for wildlife, wilderness, and the kind of freedom that comes from living simply and close to nature.
I’m not really from anywhere in particular, but if I had to claim a home, it would probably be somewhere between Montana, Idaho, and now the San Juan Islands — where I’m happily settling into island time.
I hope my passion for the outdoors impacts all my guests. I’m so excited to share an adventure with you!
