Kayak Tour Preparation

Be Prepared

Our goal is to make your trip as effortless as possible, so we strive to provide you with the best equipment and to think of all the little details that go into a great experience.

Kayaks & Paddling Gear

We use fiberglass tandem kayaks for all of our kayak tours. We select kayaks for comfort and efficiency. The kayak of choice is the Current Design Libra XT. The Libra XT is perfect for short kayak tours or longer expeditions. Our fleet has all Werner kayak paddles and Snap Dragon spray decks, both produced here in Washington state. We provide Seal Line dry bags for all kayaking tours, built for durability. Life vests (personal floatation devices) are selected from Stohlquist and MTI Adventure Wear. We offer all guests waterproof jackets and pants from NRS. We love our gear and only choose to work with the best.

Transportation

We have a downtown brick and mortar location where all of our kayaking tours originate. Our location is just a short walk from the ferry landing, in the heart of downtown Friday Harbor. Once you arrive at the shop we will provide transportation to the launch locations and back to town after the kayak tour.

Camping Equipment

We have selected some of the best camping equipment available in the industry. NO RENTAL FEES for camping equipment. We use MSR spacious tents, Therm-A-Rest sleeping pads and pillows, and Marmot sleeping bags with liners. Our multi-day kayak tours are all-inclusive.

Food (Multi-day kayak tours)

Every tour is a bit different. Once you reserve a multi-day kayak tour you will receive a packet via email that contains a dietary questionnaire. We then customize the menu based on the results of the questionnaire. We source as much of our produce from our organic garden and local farms. All cooking and dinnerware is provided.

Where to go and what to do

There are a lot of activities on San Juan Island. We can help point you in the direction of some of the best restaurants, beaches, and local favorites.
