What a beautiful evening on the water! The day started with heavy clouds and lots of rain, so we were not sure what kind of sunset we would have at the end of the day. With just a small crew of guests having an interest in our west side San Juan Island Sunset Kayak Tour, we headed out to San Juan County Park, where we put on the water. One of the best things about our Sunset Kayak Tour is the location. The west side of the island is a magical place any time of day, but it is hard to beat the colors at sunset.
It was a fairly calm evening with flat seas. Though we did not get to see whales this evening, we had lots of wildlife. Harbor Seals are along the shoreline, and porpoises are moving along the Haro Strait in search of food. Eagles and a diversity of sea birds are always common along this kayak route.
Kelly was the guide on this evening. She spends her time navigating the group south towards the Lime Kiln Lighthouse and sharing her knowledge on the local history and wildlife encountered along the way.
Sunset Kayak Tours are pure magic when the clouds loom overhead and the sun drops to inhabit the clear skyline just above the land. If you are coming out to the island to visit and you are unsure what kayak tour to reserve, give the sunset kayak tour a look. You might find it the perfect fit for you.
