Friday Harbor Full Day Kayak Tour Testimonial

We had an amazing morning trip with Discovery Sea Kayaks. The gear was high quality and in great condition. The guide was knowledgeable, professional, and very personable. As someone who has sea kayaked many times before, I was very impressed with this outfitter. I strongly recommend this company to first-timers or experienced paddlers!

Route & Itinerary

The Friday Harbor (East Side) Route

The Friday Harbor Full Day Kayak Tour routes are set to maximize the opportunity to encounter diverse wildlife. The east side route provides a more protected paddling experience than our west side kayak tours. We paddle along the shore with views of the surrounding islands and excellent wildlife encounter opportunities. The main route for this kayak tour takes us to Turn Island Marine Park. We do alter the route due to winds and use our alternate route that travels to a small pocket beach north along the shore of San Juan Island.

Please note this itinerary is a rough outline of the day’s travel. We can encounter delays affecting our departure and arrival time back at the shop.

  • Check-in (Our Shop): 10:45 AM at our shop, 260 Spring St. Friday Harbor, Wa.
  • Departure (Our Shop): 11:00 AM
  • Head to the Docks: (Port of Friday Harbor): Restroom Break, Safety and Kayak Education, Organize kayaks for departure.
  • On the Water: Explore the coast looking for whales. wildlife, and take in the beauty of San Juan Island.
  • Lunch Break: Take a break for lunch. Lounge on the beach and/or go for a hike around the Turn Island.
  • Back on the Water: After lunch, continue to explore the waters as we slowly make our way back to the Port of Friday Harbor.
  • Trips may experience delays due to orca whale encounters. Because of regulations in place to protect our local orca whales, our movements can be restricted when whales are in the area.
