I grew up playing in the lakes and forests of Wisconsin’s Driftless Area. We were lucky to load up the station wagon at the end of summer and take classic road trips to visit public lands and see family. For me, sense of adventure kicked into high gear with a week-long family trip backpacking the Grand Canyon, and I was hooked on sharing outdoor experiences with others after five summers at a rustic summer camp in upstate New York.

After graduating college, the call to head west and jump into the Pacific took me to the world of outdoor education and guiding opportunities on water and land in Alaska, Oregon, and California as well as some time back on Minnesota’s North Shore of Lake Superior.

There’s a lot to learn, share, and cherish about our surroundings while being in the seat of a kayak, the San Juan Islands are no exception. I’m always intrigued by our coastal surroundings – an amazing interface of land and sea – so come along and bring your curiosities!
